In homes around the globe

Sometimes three times a day

On comes a show that we all know and makes guests want to stay.

A drumline made of chops

Sizzling rolling cymbals

The oven sings a melody when the temp is at its place.

Potatoes playing flute

The cook conducts and plays

To start the final movement, a solo from the plates.

Soon the members gather

Aromas marking tone

Arriving at the table hoping you enjoyed their show.

For me, cooking has always been more than a necessary activity, but a way to express creative talents through skill, senses, and flavors. Expanding the limits and trying new things wherever I am cooking has always been a drive of mine. Whether it is adapting to available equipment/space, trying something new with plating, or executing a dish that I thought would be challenging is all a part of the art of conducting the kitchen symphony.

My favorite truth about cooking food is that God designed us to eat. He made the animals, vegetables, herbs, and spices compatible with our bodies and gave us a tongue that recognizes flavors along with various systems that drive cravings. I get the chance to highlight the best parts of the ingredients provided to me whenever I am given an opportunity to serve a meal and that is pretty cool!

Even cooler, though we need food to survive, because God loves us, He always provides!

Deuteronomy 8:3 reads, "He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord."

When the Israelites disobeyed God and put their faith in things of this world rather than in Him, they were disciplined and had to wander the desert for forty years. Even though they were being punished, God did not allow them to go extinct and continued to provide for them because of His great love for us.

Psalms 136:23-26 "He remembered us in our low estate His love endures forever.

and freed us from our enemies. His love endures forever.

He gives food to every creature. His love endures forever.

Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever."

His love endures forever indeed, for each and every one of us. He sent Jesus Christ for all of us so that we can experience His love in this life and then together with Him throughout eternity!
